Welcome to the world of Swedish Weave embroidery! We are sure that you willbe very pleased with the finished product. You will notice that our patterns re specially designed to make the most of the Swedish Weave technique. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or ideas about Swedish Weaving.
Take a moment and notice the material. It is called "Huck" material and is different than most other materials. Notice how there is a raised thread every so often in the material. When you Swedish Weave the background, you pick up this thread rather than trying to pierce the material.
Here are the basic instructions:
Thread the needle with about 18 inches of thread and knot the end. Save the outlining for later. Now we are going to concentrate on the Swedish Weave background. Start the needle from the back side and progress sideways across the fabric, going under the double strands and accross the fabric and under the double strands. When you have completed the first row, take the needle through to the back side, drop down a row and start again. Continue this way and fill in all of the stamped design. When the background is done, go ahead and embroider the stamped outline with either an outline or chain stitch.
